We made the pilgrimage to Milan in October for the 26th edition of the prestigious Milano Tattoo Convention 2022, and here’s what we’ve got to show for it!

Hundreds of world-class tattoo artists came along for the convention over the 21st-23rd of October, which saw a hectic three days of tattooing, extreme entertainment and, of course, the all-important tattoo awards!

Between watching burly men hanging from meathooks and beautiful women swinging from the ceiling, we managed to catch plenty of tattooing in action - with more sponsored artists going than we could shake a stick at!

We took some time with artists to get their thoughts on the convention - check out our interviews with Christian Boye Larsen, Guido Schmitz, Federico Costantini, Sampaguita Jay, Lena Diamanti, and Diego Lanzone for a little behind-the-scenes action.

Our sponsored artists cleaned house with a bunch of them taking home awards at this year’s convention. Sandra Daukshta closed the first day by taking the award for ‘Best of Friday’, before her completed colour realism sleeve was named ‘2nd Best of Show’.

Christian Boye Larsen claimed ‘2nd Best Large Black & Grey’ for his incredibly intricate full frontal piece, while Kindamo from Or Noir Tattoo Gallery took the #1 spot for his equally impressive large-scale black and grey work.

It was a great weekend for Sampaguita Jay, whose sublime black and grey leg piece of a female portrait and snake won the coveted ‘Best of Show’ – an amazing feat for any artist at a convention of this magnitude!

Shout out to our good friend Benjamin Laukis for clinching ‘3rd Best Medium Colour’ at the show for his fiery tattoo!

The next Milano Tattoo Convention is set to take place in 2024, so you’ve got plenty of time to find a way to make it - we hope to see you there!
